EyeFi Mobi sd card is an massive tool to work without a cable between camera and tablet/notebook.

For me it was the first time having Wifi working on my Canon 60D. Finally! I am so glad I found a workaround to connect my tablet and transfer the pictures after a few seconds (up to 5-7 seconds depending on the JPEG size) on the tablet. Especially for a photo shooting it is insane good to show something to the model which is bigger than a camera screen.

Ok, lets start from the beginning. The EyeFi Mobi Card is available in 8, 16 or 32 GB. I tried the 8 GB version. The price for a SD card with Wifi connectivity is reasonable. Before you buy the EyeFi Mobi card you should check if your camera also supports the EyeFi SD card here. After receiving the card you only have to put it into your camera and enable the EyeFi card in the menu of the camera.

Setting up the SD card and connecting to an iOS, Android or Windows device you only have to install the software/app on your device. After turning on the camera take a first picture and turn on Wifi on your device (tablet, phone, notebook) and connect to the Wifi network which starts with „eyefi….“. Sounds pretty easy? It is! Ok, maybe you’ll need a few more steps to register the EyeFi SD card on your device, but basically that’s it!

During the trial phase the EyeFi card got and also the app got some updates. They improved the duration of the Wifi connection and gave you the options 1, 2, 4 minutes or turning off the wifi connections with turning off the camera. The default setting of the duration of the Wifi Connection is just one minute.

As soon as you are connected to the EyeFi Mobi SD card you can take pictures…important therefore, you have also to shoot in JPEGs. Remember the EyeFi Mobi can only transfer JPEGs. The EyeFi Mobi Pro also can transfer RAW Files and can also connect to other wifi connections to transfer pictures.

Transfer times depend on the size of the jpegs which are stored on the SD card. You are responsible on your own in which quality it is necesssary to safe the jpegs. A smaller screen won’t need a super high jpeg quality especially if you will work on the pictures in RAW later anyway 😉

My conclusing of this Wifi subsitute is great! I can honestly recommend the EyeFi Mobi SD card to all those people who have no wifi connection built in in their camera and also wants to work without cables. The transfer times are acceptable but I am pretty sure they working on faster connections already 😉 I am already trying the EyeFi Mobi Pro and want to give you more information about it soon 😉
